Mastering Desynthesis: A profitable Journey Unveiled

Greetings, Adventurers o/

This week, let's delve into the art of leveling your desynthesis skills—a lucrative pursuit for Disciples of the Hand (crafters). Desynthesis empowers you to dismantle armor and weapons obtained from dungeons and raids, yielding raw materials for crafting or selling on the market board. Moreover, breaking down certain items may reveal rare materials, adding substantial value either individually or when utilized in crafting endeavors.

To embark on this journey, you must first unlock desynthesis by having a crafter at level 30 and completing the side quest "Gone to Pieces." However, to maximize the benefits of desynthesis, ensure that your crafters are leveled to the cap, as the skill is restricted to equipment of an equal or lower level.

To identify desynthable items, examine the tooltip. If it reads "Desynthesizable: N" this implies the item cannot be desynthesized, often due to its recent introduction and anticipated future changes. Conversely, if a number is provided instead, this denotes the required level to maximize loot from the item. While leveling, this detail is less crucial, but when targeting items specifically for in search of rare materials, keep in mind that this level unlocks an increased chance for these rare materials.

Crafting a Desynthesis Strategy: Where to Begin?

Determining which crafters to level desynthesis for first depends on your goal. If, like me, you aim to break down ex weapons for their rare materials, prioritize leveling the following crafters:

  •        Goldsmith
  •        Blacksmith
  •        Carpenter
  •        Alchemist

For a laid-back leveling approach, run dungeons, greed/need on loot, and desynth the acquired items. This method is slow and lacks control over the targeted crafter but is cost-effective and straightforward.

Alternatively, for a more focused leveling process, consider buying or crafting items desynthed by the chosen crafters. The materials obtained from desynthesis can then be used to craft more items, reducing costs. You can either focus on maximizing your desynth first or level up desynth until reaching the threshold for specific farms that incorporate desynthesis, offering a dual benefit of leveling and profit-making.
